Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know before booking. Don't see your question? Just ask.
It starts with the discovery form on the contact page. Once I receive it, I'll follow up within 48 hours to schedule a short consultation call — usually around 30 minutes — where we dig into your interests, travel style, priorities, and any questions you have. From there, I get to work on your custom itinerary. Depending on your tier, you'll have one or more rounds of revisions before the final version is delivered. Once everything is confirmed, I'm with you from planning all the way through the last day of your trip.
For the best experience and the best deals, I recommend booking 7–10 weeks in advance. This window gives us time for a thorough consultation, itinerary planning, and revisions, while also securing the best available rates on airfare, hotels, and special events like concerts or sports games. Booking 4–6 weeks out is still workable, but you may miss out on optimal pricing and availability. Any booking made 14 days or less before departure is subject to a rush surcharge of 25–50% of the planning fee, paid with the deposit.
Yes. As part of my services, I do the hard work of searching for the best available deals on flights and hotels so you don't have to. I'll present you with the best options and, if you prefer, you can authorize me to use your credit card to complete the bookings on your behalf. My goal is to take the research and logistics off your plate entirely.
Changes to already-confirmed bookings (accommodations, restaurants, tours) may not always be possible and are subject to the following: third-party vendor change and cancellation policies; potential change fees from vendors, which are the client's responsibility; a provider administration fee of up to $150 depending on complexity; and potential loss of deposits or prepayments to vendors. Please note that changing travel dates is classified as a cancellation and is subject to the cancellation policy. Regarding changes to the number of travelers: if a traveler is removed before final payment, their portion of the deposit is forfeited and per-person pricing for remaining travelers may increase. After final payment, the full amount for a removed traveler is non-refundable. For full details, see our Service Agreement.
All packages include phone and text support while you're traveling. If a restaurant is fully booked, a museum is closed, or your train is delayed, just text me and we'll sort it out. The level of support also varies by tier: the Short Escape includes standard messaging support; the Classic Journey adds priority response and proactive check-ins; and the Grand Adventure includes the highest level of on-trip support, with dedicated availability and in-person concierge add-ons available.
Yes. Additional travelers beyond 4 are charged at $200 per person, regardless of group size. That said, larger groups may be eligible for discounts depending on the complexity of the trip. Some requests actually become more efficient to plan at scale. Just mention your group size in the discovery form and we'll figure out what works best for your situation.
Absolutely, and these are some of my favorite trips to plan. Special occasions deserve more than a good itinerary. They deserve the right moment at the right place. Whether that's a private dinner in a historic wine cellar, a sunrise visit to the Alhambra before the crowds arrive, or a sunset in Santorini timed just right, I'll build in experiences that make the occasion unforgettable. Just mention it in the discovery form and we'll design something around it.
Spain is my specialty. It's where I live, where I know every corner, and where my expertise runs deepest. But I can absolutely expand your trip to other parts of Europe: Portugal, France, Italy, Greece, and beyond. If you'd prefer to stay closer to home, I also plan getaways to places like Aruba, Mexico, and destinations within the USA. Whatever the destination, I bring the same care, research, and personal attention to every trip.
I live in Madrid, but I've been lucky enough to explore many countries and experience some of the world's best destinations, while keeping a realistic budget and always prioritizing genuine local experiences over tourist traps. I know what it's like to have limited vacation time and limited chances to travel, and I never take that lightly. My mission is to make sure that when you do go, it's the trip of your life, not a disappointment built on bad advice. I'm not incentivized by commissions. I recommend what I'd actually do myself.
Travel insurance is highly recommended for every trip. A good policy covers trip cancellation, medical emergencies, emergency evacuation, lost baggage, and travel delays. That said, many people already have some level of coverage through their private health insurance or credit cards and may not need a separate policy. As part of the planning process, I'll help you review your existing coverage and research what would best fit your specific situation, destination, and group. The goal is to make sure you're protected in the way that makes the most sense for you.
Yes. Rush planning for trips booked less than 14 days before departure carries a surcharge of +25–50% of the planning fee, depending on your tier. This reflects the compressed timeline and the additional effort required to still deliver a quality itinerary under pressure. The surcharge is paid at the time of deposit. For full details, see our Service Agreement.
Absolutely. The sample itineraries on the website are just starting points to show you what's possible. Your itinerary will be built from scratch based on your interests, pace, group, and specific dates. Never copy-pasted from a template.
